Job Description

One of Insight Global's major clients are seeking a senior electrical engineer to serve as a technical lead for power plant electrical infrastructure across the client's power generation fleet. This role provides critical engineering oversight for both new build and existing power generation facilities, ensuring the reliable and efficient operation of power plant electrical systems. General responsibilities include:

  • Provide comprehensive engineering support with maintenance, testing and troubleshooting for a diverse range of power plant equipment, including low, medium, and high voltage switch gear, motor control centers (MCCs), segmented/isophase bus work, large electric generators, excitation systems, Automatic Voltage Regulators (AVR), digital protective relays, generator circuit breakers, and generator step-up (GSU)/auxiliary transformers.
  • Support the review of design specifications and drawings developed and for the purchase of new or the modification and/or replacement of existing power plant electrical equipment.
  • Supervise and sometimes perform industry-standard electrical testing protocols, with preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs.
  • Analyze test results to diagnose equipment health and recommend lifecycle strategies (repair vs. replacement).
  • Support fleet-wide NERC CIP, PRC, and MOD Programs with required electrical testing and patching.
  • Ensure rigorous technical documentation is correct and submitted timely with test reporting to maintain 100% compliance with NERC/SERC standards.

Compensation:
