Water​/Wastewater Engineer

HDR is looking for a talented Water/Wastewater Engineer to join our growing Water Business Group in Atlanta‑GA, Birmingham‑AL, or Montgomery‑AL.

We are seeking an individual with at least five years of progressive experience in water and wastewater evaluation, analysis, design, and construction. The candidate will assist with projects through planning, design, and construction phases across water and wastewater treatment facilities and related infrastructure projects. Additional duties include technical investigation and analysis of detailed studies, preparing reports on treatment, distribution, and conveyance infrastructure, advising project managers, coordinating with sub‑consultants, supporting senior staff to maintain project schedules and budgets, and producing documentation in line with project scopes and quality procedures.

The role involves regular client contact, managing and leading specific tasks, and occasional field construction observation and coordination.

• A minimum of three years’ experience executing technical studies, analyses, and/or designing and creating plans and specifications for water-focused projects.
• Local candidates are preferred.
• LI‑SM1.

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent field.
• Previous experience executing technical studies, analyses, and/or designing and creating plans and specifications for water-focused projects.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Ability to make independent decisions and be accountable for the results.
• Self‑motivated, able to work independently and with a project team to completion of a task.
