Your impact

Jacobs is looking for an Environmental Compliance Coordinator to join our team in Atlanta, GA. Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, the Environmental Compliance Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance with federal, state, and local stormwater and wastewater permit requirements, including industrial and construction discharges as well as land disturbance activities. Additionally, this position will provide support to the DOA Environmental Team as needed, regarding environmental emergency response, asbestos, mold, and lead abatement activities oversight.

  • Supports construction stormwater compliance by reviewing erosion and sediment control documentation, field conditions, inspection reports, sampling records, and corrective action items.
  • Conducts or assists with field inspections, construction site reviews, outfall observations, and environmental compliance evaluations as assigned.
  • Coordinates with project managers, construction managers, contractors, consultants, and Department of Aviation Environmental staff to support compliance with stormwater, wastewater, land disturbance, and other environmental requirements.
  • Assists with stormwater and wastewater permit compliance activities, including sampling coordination, inspection tracking, data review, corrective action follow-up, and compliance documentation.
  • Supports environmental field activities, including contractor escorts, asbestos, mold, lead, environmental sampling, abatement coordination, and related environmental work as assigned.
  • Assists with environmental incident response activities involving spills, releases, discharges, water quality concerns, wastewater issues, or other environmental compliance matters.
  • Provides project and field support to the Environmental Compliance Manager, Environmental Specialist, and other assigned environmental staff.
  • Maintains written documentation and files to ensure compliance with GA EPD, LIA, and/or DOA environmental requirements.
  • Strong organizational, written communication, verbal communication, and problem-solving skills.
Other tasks as may be assigned Here's what you'll need
  • University degree in Science, Environmental Studies, Geology, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field. Relevant experience may be considered in combination with education.
  • GSWCC certification is preferred or must be obtained within a timeframe established by DOA Environmental. Additional environmental training or certifications must be obtained as needed to support DOA compliance programs.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in environmental compliance, stormwater management, wastewater compliance, construction environmental compliance, erosion and sediment control, environmental permitting, water quality monitoring, or a related environmental field. Experience supporting construction stormwater compliance, erosion and sediment control inspections, permit documentation, sampling activities, or regulatory reporting is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of environmental compliance principles related to stormwater, wastewater, construction stormwater, erosion and sediment control, or related environmental programs.
  • Ability to read and understand environmental permits, construction plans, erosion and sediment control plans, inspection reports, sampling results, laboratory reports, and regulatory correspondence.
  • Ability to conduct or support field inspections, document observations, and elevate potential environmental compliance concerns to senior staff.
  • Environmental certification from the GSWCC (minimum Level 1B) is required. Additional environmental certifications are preferred.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while supporting multiple projects, inspections, documentation needs, and compliance activities.
  • Exceptional organizational and communication skills.
  • Sound judgment and the ability to implement additional actions that ensure environmental compliance.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, specifically Word, Excel, Access and Outlook.
  • Construction, civil, utility, infrastructure, aviation, or large site development experience is preferred.
