Controls Engineer (Beckhoff TwinCAT / EtherCAT)

We are seeking an experienced Controls Engineer to support a 24/7 medically regulated (cGMP) facility at our client's site in Johns Creek, GA. The engineer will be responsible for investigating, enhancing, developing, and validating TwinCAT PLC programs with a strong emphasis on EtherCAT diagnostics, safety system integration, and specification monitoring defeat analysis. This role requires meticulous documentation and strict adherence to cGMP and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, test, and validate PLC code in Beckhoff TwinCAT systems
  • Perform diagnostics and enhance EtherCAT communication and HMI messaging
  • Investigate and improve safety signal logic and failure messaging to meet compliance standards
  • Analyze potential specification monitoring bypasses, propose and implement mitigations
  • Prepare and maintain high-quality documentation suitable for a regulated environment
  • Regularly update stakeholders and deliver formal progress and final summary reports
  • Collaborate with on-site teams and ensure compliance with all site quality and operational protocols
Key Deliverables:
  • Reviewed and approved TwinCAT PLC code with full documentation and version control
  • Detailed investigation reports with actionable recommendations
  • Comprehensive test plans and corresponding reports
  • Updated system documentation aligned with cGMP/regulatory compliance
  • Ongoing status updates and final engagement summary
Required Qualifications:
  • Expertise in Beckhoff TwinCAT PLC systems and EtherCAT diagnostics
  • Experience with PLC safety systems and HMI integration
  • Strong knowledge of medically regulated/cGMP environments
  • Proficiency in documentation and version control practices
  • Familiarity with Siemens PLCs is a plus
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities
Work Environment:
  • On-site, 24/7 medically regulated production facility
  • Must follow all client site protocols and quality procedures
