Job Summary

Provide engineering services in support of systems and equipment associated with research efforts within an academic or research unit or laboratory. Specific duties will be determined based on assignment and unit needs. This position will interact on a consistent basis with: unit management and staff. This position typically will advise and counsel: unit management and staff.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Hands-on troubleshooting experience with mechanical and fluid systems (pumps, valves, chillers, HVAC, exhaust fans, various sensor types)
  • Familiarity with material specification best practices for various use cases, including experience creating Bills of Materials (BOMs)
  • Working knowledge of different power systems, including low-voltage control systems
  • Familiarity with proper sensor specification and installation
  • Experience with Rhino or AutoCAD (or similar CAD software)
  • Experience using both hand tools and power tools for [mechanical/electrical/maintenance] work
  • Experience with Gantt charts and project management tools.
  • Experience working with mechanical and electrical contractors.
  • Experience with creating scope of work
  • Experience with creating SOPs (standard operating procedures)
  • Experience with project execution creation -> final sign off/commissioning.
  • Experience sourcing parts and materials through vendor web portals (e.g., Grainger, McMaster-Carr, etc.)
