We're partnering with a highly respected, nationally recognised engineering consultancy to support the growth of their Investigative Engineering team in Atlanta. This is a senior-level opportunity to play a key role in expanding their presence across the Southeast while working on technically diverse, high-impact projects involving existing structures.
This team specialises in the evaluation, repair, and rehabilitation of buildings, covering structural restoration, façade systems, building envelope assessments, non-destructive testing, and expert witness work. It's an excellent opportunity for someone looking to step into a leadership position with both technical ownership and client-facing responsibility.
Senior Investigative Structural Engineer - Atlanta, GAYou'll split your time between office-based design and field investigations, working closely with building owners, architects, and contractors across the full project lifecycle.
Typical responsibilities include:
- Leading investigations and developing repair/retrofit solutions for existing structures
- Producing calculations, drawings, and technical reports
- Conducting site evaluations and condition assessments
- Supporting construction administration and project delivery
- Mentoring junior engineers and contributing to team development
- Engaging directly with clients and supporting business development efforts
- Assisting with proposals, fee structures, and QA/QC processes
This role offers strong visibility within a growing regional office, with the opportunity to influence strategy, build client relationships, and help scale operations.
What They're Looking For- PE licensed (required)
- 6+ years of structural engineering experience, with exposure to existing buildings, restoration, or forensic work
- Strong understanding of building codes, construction methods, and field investigation practices
- Proven ability to manage projects from concept through construction
Leadership mindset with experience mentoring or guiding junior staff - Strong communication skills and client-facing confidence
- Master's degree
- Experience with complex restoration or building envelope projects
- Interest in long-term leadership and potential participation in ownership structures
- Base Salary: ~$130,000 (
flexible DOE
