ERM is seeking a Managing Consultant, Environmental Compliance to join our growing Atlanta team. This is a high-impact opportunity to partner with leading industrial clients, solve complex regulatory challenges, and take on increasing responsibility for project leadership, client engagement, and team development.
Organizations are under increasing pressure to operate responsibly while navigating evolving environmental regulations. In this role, you will help clients proactively manage compliance, reduce risk, and embed sustainable practices into their operations
-directly influencing business continuity, environmental performance, and long-term value.
Serve as a trusted advisor to clients on complex U.S. environmental regulations and compliance strategies.
Lead and execute high-visibility projects that drive regulatory compliance and operational excellence.
Strengthen client relationships while contributing to business growth and repeat engagement.
Elevate team capability through mentorship and knowledge sharing across ERM’s global network.
Help organizations move from reactive compliance to proactive, strategic environmental management.
What You’ll Bring Required- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Civil, Environmental, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
- 4+ years of environmental compliance experience (consulting and permitting strongly preferred)
- Working knowledge of key regulations (e.g., CAA, CWA, RCRA, EPCRA, OPA)
- Strong analytical, organizational, and technical writing skills
- Experience managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, client-focused environment
- Proficiency in data analysis tools (Excel, databases)
- Willingness to travel up to 20%
- Master’s degree and/or Professional Engineer (PE) certification
- 6-10 years of relevant experience, including consulting
- Experience managing projects, budgets, and/or junior staff
- Advanced proficiency in MS Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
- Develop and manage environmental permits, plans, and compliance programs aligned with regulatory requirements and client operations
- Lead environmental compliance assessments, audits, and corrective action planning
- Prepare and manage reporting for programs such as air quality, hazardous waste, stormwater, NPDES, TRI, and Tier II
- Conduct and oversee Phase I Environmental Site Assessments and limited transaction-related compliance reviews
- Provide on-site environmental, health, and safety (EHS) compliance support as needed
- Compile, analyze, and interpret environmental data to inform client recommendations
- Deliver projects on time, within scope and budget, and to ERM quality standards
- Partner with senior leaders to manage client accounts and support business development efforts
- Mentor junior team members and contribute to building a high-performing consulting team
