Controls Engineer - Own the brain of the factory

Atlanta, GA

Design, code, and launch the systems that keep production moving

You build the logic that turns machines into smart, reliable production systems. From blank screen to commissioned line, you own the controls.

Here, you won’t just tweak someone else’s ladder. You’ll design full PLC/HMI architectures, machine safety, motion, and data systems that real operators rely on every shift.

Your work goes from concept to live on the plant floor – and you’re there to see it run.

If you’ve designed and commissioned PLC-based automation and you want more project ownership, we want to talk to you.

What You'll Work On

You’ll take on start-to-finish industrial automation projects across modern manufacturing environments:

  • PLC-based machine and line controls
  • HMI and SCADA interfaces for operators and supervisors
  • Servo motion, VFDs, and motor control systems
  • Pneumatic, hydraulic, and electronic devices and interlocks
  • Machine safety systems and safety validation
  • Industrial networks and data collection systems
  • Industrial IoT / Industry 4.0-focused innovations
  • On-site commissioning and troubleshooting of complex control systems

Core platforms include Rockwell Automation and Siemens PLCs and HMIs, with electrical design in ePlan and exposure to SCADA and manufacturing information tools.

This is where your controls expertise directly shapes how entire lines run, perform, and stay safe.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Designing and implementing complete industrial control systems from requirements to commissioning
  • Writing ladder logic and structured text PLC programs for complex machinery and processes
  • Programming control for pneumatic, hydraulic, and electronic devices
  • Configuring and tuning motor starters, VFDs, and servo motion control
  • Designing and programming HMIs and SCADA systems for intuitive operator interaction
  • Developing custom data collection and information systems to expose machine and process data
  • Creating electrical schematics and panel layouts using ePlan
  • Designing, documenting, implementing, and validating machine safety systems
  • Performing risk assessments and generating Sistema reports to validate safety category and performance levels
  • Writing safety validation plans and reports for machine and line controls
  • Researching and applying modern technologies in machine/motion control and Industrial IoT/I4.0
  • Commissioning, starting up, and troubleshooting complex control systems on the shop floor and at customer sites
What We're Looking For
  • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer/Software Engineering, or similar discipline
  • At least 4 years of experience designing, programming, and commissioning PLC systems
  • Hands-on PLC and HMI experience with Rockwell Automation and/or Siemens
  • Proficiency with VFDs and motion control, including servo systems
  • Experience designing and commissioning industrial automation controls
  • Background with machine safety concepts, risk assessment, and validation
  • Ability to create electrical schematics and panel layouts, ideally using ePlan
  • Willingness and ability to travel approximately 20-25%
The Experience That Will Really Get Our Attention

You’ve taken multiple projects from blank project file to a running, debugged system on the plant floor, owning both the PLC/HMI code and the safety, motion, and panel design details. You’re comfortable sitting with a mechanical design, asking pointed questions, and then turning that concept into robust, maintainable control logic.

You can walk onto a line, plug in, and systematically troubleshoot complex issues across PLC code, networks, drives, and devices. Machine safety, risk assessments, and Sistema aren’t buzzwords to you – they’re part of your normal workflow.
