Georgia-Pacific is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead critical capital investments across our Pulp, Power & Recovery (PPR) operations. In this role, you will lead complex capital projects from initial concept and feasibility studies through design, procurement, fabrication, construction, commissioning, testing and handover to deliver world-class outcomes in manufacturing environments.
We are seeking candidates based in (or open to relocate to) the Southeast (Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas, Carolina's, Tennessee, Virginia).
What You Will Do- Successfully manage multiple capital projects ($15MM-$150MM+) across full lifecycle (P0-P6)
- Develop and maintain detailed project plans including scope, schedule, budget, and risk management.
- Lead cross‑functional teams spanning engineering, maintenance, operations, finance, safety, and construction
- Foster alignment across internal stakeholders and external partners; ensure all parties are aligned on project requirements, scope, and deliverables
- Drive FEL development and execution readiness (P0-P3)
- Ensure alignment with mill and business leadership
- Facilitate project reviews, status reporting, executive updates, and stakeholder communications
- Oversee detailed design, contractor coordination, outage execution, and startup (P4-P6)
- Ensure adherence to safety, environmental, and regulatory standards
- Manage and control objective and scope changes
- Deliver projects that meet business case and performance expectations
- Strong leadership and ability to influence across a matrixed organization
- High ownership mindset with focus on delivering results
- Sound decision‑making balancing technical, financial, and business drivers
- Excellent communication skills with executive presence
- Commitment to safety, continuous improvement, and operational excellence
- Ability to work in fast‑paced, complex industrial environments
- Bachelor's degree in Project Management or Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, or related)
- 10+ years of progressive project management experience, with at least 6 years specifically on capital equipment or major construction/capital projects.
- Experience managing projects over $15million
- Experience leading cross‑functional engineering and construction teams
- Strong knowledge of project management practices within a phase gate process
- Ability to travel at least 80% to support project development, execution, outages, startups, and mill engagement
- Experience in pulp & paper, power, or utility systems
- Experience with brownfield capital projects
- Experience with maintenance outages
- Experience with different project execution and project delivery models
- Advanced degree: MBA or Master's in Engineering
- Advanced credentials: PMP, Professional Engineer, or other relevant certifications
