The Georgia World Congress Center Authority (GWCCA) Event Services Operation function is responsible for planning, coordinating and executing exceptional customer service that support world-class events and guest experiences. Through strong objective oversight, client relationships, and operational leadership, Event Services ensures the Authority operates at the highest standards of quality, safety practices, event logistics, and contractual agreements.
GWCCA EVENT MANAGER POSITION SUMMARYThe Authority is currently hiring an Event Manager to join The Georgia World Congress Center. The Event Manager serves as the primary client relationship manager and operational lead responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing assigned events across the Georgia World Congress Center Authority (GWCCA) campus. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Event Services, this position plays a critical role in delivering exceptional event experiences by translating client objectives into comprehensive event plans that support operational excellence, venue readiness, and the Authority's commitment to outstanding customer service.
The Event Manager oversees the full event lifecycle—from initial planning through event execution and post-event closeout—ensuring events are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with contractual agreements, operational requirements, and Authority policies.
- Fast-paced, professional environment in a dynamic convention, sports, entertainment, and hospitality venue.
- Work performed in office settings, exhibit halls, meeting rooms, loading docks, public spaces, outdoor venues, and event facilities across the Authority's campus.
- Requires a flexible schedule, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours to support event operations, client needs, and campus activities.
- Regularly attends client meetings, planning sessions, site inspections, operational walkthroughs, event move-ins, live events, and move-outs.
- Frequently interacts with clients, exhibitors, contractors, vendors, public safety personnel, internal departments, and the public while maintaining a high level of professionalism and customer service.
- Must respond effectively to changing priorities, time-sensitive operational issues, and emergency situations while maintaining composure under pressure.
- May be required to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and travel throughout the Authority's campus multiple times during the workday.
- Occasional local travel may be required for client meetings, industry events, training, or professional development.
- Frequently required to stand and walk for extended periods throughout large convention centers, meeting facilities, outdoor venues, stadiums, and event spaces.
