Content Operations Specialist Overall ResponsibilitiesThe Content Operations Specialist is responsible for managing and ensuring the technical and broadcast quality of all inbound and outbound content feeds, including video and audio signals, for live and recorded programming at Weather Group Television (WGT). This role combines responsibilities from media acquisitions and master control operations and longform content preparation for Entertainment Studios eight digital channels. As this position supports a 24x7 news/weather environment, candidates must have flexibility to work days , nights, overnights, weekends, and holidays as needed and without advance notice.
SpecificResponsibilitiesESN - Network Content Operations
Review the next day’s list of “barter shows” and editing requirements.
Edit barter show segments for two channels, match file titles, segment lengths, and proper transmission standards.
Make necessary adjustments and verify all file segments for final delivery and playback.
Review playlists and associated content for missing segments or other incomplete assets
Purge older content files, per policy and procedures.
Verify all assets for all channels' playlists are correct and ready for playback
Verify timing for all playlists for the current day/weekend days.
Communicate playlist or file issues to the appropriate internal or external partner and work toward a solution prior to air time.
Process dub list for promotional/commercial assets
Upload/download files to/from the assigned storage repository (local or cloud)
Ensure broadcast quality of all inbound/outbound video and audio feeds using scopes, analyzers, and level monitoring equipment.
Monitor multiple networks for high-standard quality control and report technical issues to appropriate departments.
Operate video/audio/L-Band routers, route remote feeds, and perform corrective actions to maintain broadcast signal integrity.
Manage content acquisition platforms, including LiveU, Dejero, TVU, LTN, and The Switch.
Use newsroom content systems to manage recordings and elements for live broadcasts.
Coordinate remote resources (IRDs, encoders, and format converters), adjusting levels and troubleshooting in real time.
Operate playout automation across networks to edit, load, and update playlists for live programming.
Perform daily checks on critical broadcast gear to maintain industry standards and proactively resolve system issues.
Utilize technical software tools, including FTP clients, satellite/scheduling software, MAM, MS Office, and Google Workspace.
Responsible for editing, loading, and monitoring The Weather Channel (TWC) playlist using the automation systems.
Work with Editorial and Programming teams to alter the playlist, within approved guidelines to maintain operational “on-air” continuity.
Monitor multiple TWC feeds (uplinks, downlinks, STAR feeds, etc.) and those of other Allen Media & Entertainment Studios networks.
Provide Tier 1 technical support to internal technical teams by reporting/requesting Engineering / IT assistance.
Work closely with Engineering on any signal issues, alarms, or technical issues related to monitored network feeds.
Perform operational checks, monitor video/audio quality, and proactively resolve system defects or failures.
Maintain shift logs, outage notifications, service request forms, and operational documentation.
Communicate status updates and repair workflows with management, engineering teams, and MCR clients.
Participate in technical training and adapt to changing operational demands.
