Overview

The Controller will partner closely with the CFO and leadership team to support financial strategy, reporting, and operational excellence. This role takes hands-on ownership of accounting operations while providing meaningful support to the organization’s nonprofit mission, including gifts and grants accounting. The Controller will also oversee and develop a small, dedicated accounting team, ensuring strong internal controls and accurate financial reporting.

Salary Range: $125,000 – $170,000 annually

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable and receivable, payroll, fixed assets, and cash management.
  • Partner with the CFO on the preparation of monthly and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Oversee month-end and year-end close processes to ensure accuracy, consistency, and timeliness.
  • Coordinate the annual audit process and serve as the primary point of contact for external accountants.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to inform organizational leadership and decision-making.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; CPA or Master’s degree preferred.
  • Proven experience leading accounting functions and managing staff.
  • Background in nonprofit, healthcare, or multi-entity environments preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to collaborate with senior leadership.
