Location: North Druid Hills, GA
Salary Range: $125,000 – $170,000 annually

Overview

of the Controller

The Controller will partner closely with the CFO and leadership team to support financial strategy, reporting, and operational excellence. This role takes hands‑on ownership of accounting operations while providing meaningful support to the organization’s nonprofit mission, including gifts and grants accounting. The Controller will also oversee and develop a small, dedicated accounting team, ensuring strong internal controls and accurate financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities of the Controller
  • Lead all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable and receivable, payroll, fixed assets, and cash management.
  • Partner with the CFO on the preparation of monthly and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Oversee month‑end and year‑end close processes to ensure accuracy, consistency, and timeliness.
  • Coordinate the annual audit process and serve as the primary point of contact for external accountants.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to inform organizational leadership and decision‑making.
Qualifications of the Controller
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; CPA or Master’s degree preferred.
  • Proven experience leading accounting functions and managing staff.
  • Background in nonprofit, healthcare, or multi‑entity environments preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to collaborate with senior leadership.
