Position OverviewThe Finance Manager / Controller will serve as the senior financial leader for the organization, overseeing accounting operations, HR-related compliance coordination, financial reporting, audit and insurance management, and strategic financial planning. This role offers a clear path to full executive-level financial leadership within a well-established and respected firm.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and supervise accounting, administrative, and HR support staff.
- Oversee monthly operational and financial close processes and quarterly break-even analysis.
- Ensure compliance with government regulations and required filings in coordination with HR.
- Manage annual audits and respond to insurance carrier audit requests.
- Oversee corporate insurance renewals and financial risk management processes.
- Drive procedures that improve profitability and operational efficiency within a time-and-billing environment.
- Partner closely with senior leadership and project managers to provide financial insight, forecasting, and strategic guidance.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; CPA strongly preferred.
- 10–15 years of progressive accounting and finance experience within a professional services firm (A&E, CPA, or law firm experience required).
- Proven experience operating in a hybrid Controller/CFO capacity within a small to mid-sized firm.
- Strong knowledge of time-and-billing revenue models.
- Direct involvement in monthly closes, operational reporting, and annual audits.
- Experience with cloud-based accounting software (Deltek Vision is a plus).
- Demonstrated leadership, critical thinking skills, and the ability to grow into a top financial leadership role.
