GENERAL FUNCTION:
Provide leadership in the pitching and execution of M&A and Strategic Advisory engagements while supporting IB’s Senior Managing Director in day‑to‑day management of Associates and Analysts, ensuring appropriate allocation of junior resources across projects and appropriate attention to high‑priority projects. The Principal, Investment Banking, plays a leadership role in evolving the group’s modeling and analytical capabilities, ensuring high‑quality analysis and materials.

For M&A and Strategic Advisory engagements, the Principal is the point person in creating high‑impact pitch materials and running the execution process, including financial models, CIM, and regular client and buyer communications.

Responsible and accountable for risk by openly exchanging ideas and opinions, elevating concerns, and following policies and procedures. Accountable for acting in the best interest of customers and colleagues, ensuring a positive customer experience. While operating within the Bank’s risk appetite, achieves results through consistent risk identification, assessment, management, monitoring, and reporting.

• Understand and evaluate complex financial models.
• Perform complex financial analysis.
• Create high-impact presentation materials using PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and other relevant software.
• Work well as part of a team in a high‑stress environment.
• Develop good working relationships with peers and seniors in Capital Markets and the rest of the organization.
• Manage priorities while working on multiple high‑priority opportunities simultaneously.
• Apply credit and corporate finance background to IB projects.
• Support Managing Directors and provide internal and external IB presentations.
• Interact independently with all important constituencies during M&A or Strategic Advisory assignments.

Direct day‑to‑day supervision of IB Associates and Analysts. Responsible for providing timely, candid and constructive performance feedback; developing employees to their fullest potential; offering challenging opportunities that enhance career growth; identifying and developing talent for adequate bench strength and succession planning; recognizing and rewarding employee accomplishments.

• 7‑10 years of experience in Investment Banking.
• Strong corporate finance and credit skills.
• Proven track record of success in originating and closing complex financial transactions.
• Proven ability to pitch, win and execute M&A engagements.
• Excellent oral and written presentation skills.
• Strong relationship‑building skills.
• Ability to interact effectively with senior executives inside and outside the organization.
• Expertise in one or more industries.
• BA/BS in Finance/Accounting/Economics; MBA strongly preferred.
• Securities Industry Essentials (SIE), Series 79 license, and Series 63 license required.

The base salary reflects the range for this pay grade across the US, with variation based on role, skill set, experience, education, and location. In addition to base, the role is eligible for an incentive compensation plan tied to company, line of business, and/or individual performance.
