Overview

The Senior Tax Specialist (Contractor) will support end-to-end U.S. income tax and indirect tax compliance and reporting for the company and its subsidiaries. Responsibilities include preparing and filing federal and state income tax returns, extensions, estimates, and related work papers; and preparing and filing property, sales and use, fuel/miscellaneous, business license, and public utility tax returns. The contractor will maintain payment/accrual records, perform GL reviews, support audits, and complete special studies to ensure accurate and timely compliance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and file federal and state income tax returns, extensions, estimated payments, and supporting documentation.
  • Maintain and verify income tax payment and accrual schedules to support accurate financial reporting.
  • Review income statement and balance sheet transactions to determine correct tax treatment for both income and indirect taxes.
  • Prepare accurate returns for property tax, sales & use tax, fuel and miscellaneous taxes, business license taxes, and public utility/corporation taxes.
  • File all returns, payments, extensions, and required reports on time across all jurisdictions.
  • Maintain supporting documentation and provide responses for tax audits and inquiries.
  • Support tax planning and special studies by providing data-driven analysis.
  • Manage tax notices, correspondence, and incoming mail related to all assigned tax types.
Technical Skills

Corptax, SAP, Vertex, Alteryx, Microsoft Excel.

  • Strong analytical thinking, communication skills, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and deliver review-ready work papers.
  • Required Certifications and/or Degrees:
    Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Tax, Business, or Economics; CPA preferred

    1–3+ years in corporate tax compliance
