Position SummaryResponsible for the collection and resolution of delinquent auto loan/lease accounts using telephone, automated dialer, and written correspondence in a fast‑paced, goal‑oriented collections department. Provides customer service regarding collection issues and available collection programs, and is accountable for reducing delinquency for assigned accounts.
EssentialJob Duties and Responsibilities
- Confers with customers by telephone to collect current and past‑due payments, determine reasons for delinquency, and update customer information.
- Confirms account holder by following safeguard procedures on every call.
- Documents conversations and arrangements accurately in the collection system.
- Adheres to collection standards of conduct policy on all accounts, including third parties.
- Treats all contacts in a courteous and professional manner.
- Reviews customers’ files and offers programs to qualified customers to minimize delinquency.
- Uses established procedures to make effective use of extensions and due dates to resolve delinquent accounts.
- Utilizes skip‑tooling techniques to locate and resolve delinquent accounts.
- Recommends accounts for repossession or legal action.
- Maintains delinquent rates at or below objectives.
- Meets daily and weekly production goals (calls and dollars collected).
- Complies with all company policies and procedures.
- Regularly accesses specified personal information of consumers, including Social Security numbers and dates of birth.
- Performs any additional duties as assigned.
- Experience and Education – Minimum 2 years of customer‑facing experience and/or 1 year of collection‑related experience; high school diploma or GED required.
- Transportation and Location – Must have reliable transportation and live within commutable distance of Atlanta, GA.
- Moderate computer knowledge of MS Excel and MS Word and keyboard skills.
- Ability to recognize problems, resolve or escalation as needed, including using persuasive techniques to obtain payment.
- Effective verbal communication skills for phone interactions and tolerance for stressful customer encounters.
- Multi‑tasking ability in a high energy office or home environment.
- Knowledge of and compliance with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, local, state, and federal collection laws.
- Ability to lift and move up to 10 lbs. with reasonable accommodations available.
- Authorized to work in the United States; SFS will not sponsor work visas for this position.
