Job Overview
Perform US state/local income and franchise compliance for the consolidated group. Provide support for tax audits, special projects, tax risk analysis, forecasts, other financial reporting requirements, and federal tax compliance.
Responsibilities- Prepare and review state and local income tax and franchise tax returns for the consolidated US tax group, ensuring accurate and timely submission and compliance with tax laws and internal controls. Perform complex tax analysis and research as needed. (45%)
- Assist in all aspects of state and local tax audits and dispute resolution, researching audit inquiries and providing clear responses to external auditors. (35%)
- Prepare and assist management with state tax financial reporting, including detailed tax forecasts, risk analysis, and cash planning. Communicate results to Accounting and external auditors. (10%)
- Perform federal tax compliance, preparing and reviewing federal returns and supporting analysis in accordance with tax laws and internal controls. (5%)
- Assist management with special projects and conduct ad‑hoc tax research to optimize tax position and reduce risks. Monitor tax legislation and its impact. (5%)
Education
Bachelor’s Degree (accredited school) with emphasis in Accounting, Finance or Law;
Master of Science in Taxation or LLM in Tax preferred.
Licensing
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license required.
Experience
5+ years total experience with a Big 4 or regional accounting firm and/or corporate tax department. Knowledge of US tax law and compliance processes, analytical and technologic skills, and ability to evaluate financial statement data and internal controls.
