Senior Manager, Accounting Operations

Colonial Pipeline is the largest refined products pipeline in the United States, transporting more than 100million gallons (2.5million barrels per day) of gasoline, diesel, heating oil, jet fuel, and other fuels to more than 50million Americans.

The Senior Manager, Accounting Operations plays a critical leadership role in overseeing the accounting teams that handle more than $2billion in annual revenue and over $1billion in cash payments. The position provides strategic and operational leadership across revenue accounting, accounts payable, and commodity-based accounting while driving modernization of financial systems and processes.

• Lead and develop multiple accounting teams responsible for revenue, accounts payable, and commodity accounting operations.
• Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close activities, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to a two‑day month‑end close.
• Drive evaluation, implementation, and ongoing optimization of modern accounting technologies and ERP systems.
• Own and enhance key financial transactional systems in collaboration with Technology to support growth, M&A, and evolving accounting standards.
• Oversee Sarbanes–Oxley (SOX) compliance for revenue, accounts payable, and commodity accounting processes.
• Partner with Treasury and FP&A to support cash forecasting and serve as Cash Manager backup when needed.
• Support regulatory and rate‑related initiatives, including collaboration with internal rate support teams and external FERC counsel.
• Contribute to financial due diligence, contract reviews, and system integrations related to growth and acquisition initiatives.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (Master’s degree preferred).
• Minimum of ten years of progressive experience managing financial or operational accounting functions.
• Proven experience leading teams and developing high‑performing people leaders.
• Extensive hands‑on experience with large‑scale ERP systems and financial software.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial statement preparation, and internal controls.
• Ability to collaborate across multiple functions and influence at senior levels.
• Experience supporting complex transactions, regulatory reporting, and business growth initiatives.

• Strategic leadership with the ability to balance operational execution and long‑term transformation.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to explain complex financial matters clearly.
• Demonstrated success in modernizing manual or legacy accounting processes.
• Excellent communication, coaching, and stakeholder‑management skills.
• High attention to detail with the ability to thrive in deadline‑driven environments.
• Sound judgment, strong decision‑making skills, and the ability to lead through change.
• CPA certification and oil & gas industry experience are preferred.
