Division of Sponsored Programs Administration and Augusta University Research Institute coordinate and support internal and external sponsored projects.
Job SummaryThe Accountant 2 position is responsible for monitoring assigned sponsored accounts, educating department administrators and principal investigators concerning compliance issues, and assisting them in managing the sponsored funds in accordance with state and federal regulations.
Responsibilities- Prepare financial reports for various sponsored programs.
- Help educate administrators and faculty about compliance with federal and state regulations for various sponsored programs.
- Work collaboratively with various offices to ensure the terms and conditions of each sponsored program are met.
- Invoice sponsoring agencies and track accounts receivable.
- Monitor sponsored programs to ensure expenditures are in compliance with agency requirements and terms of the award.
- Establish and maintain budgets for sponsored programs.
- Review and authorize transfers (expenditure and budget) for sponsored accounts.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Finance or related field with emphasis in accounting coursework.
- Minimum of two years of work experience.
- Experience with Excel, strong communication, and problem‑solving skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.
- Knowledge of accounting, Excel (including formulas and pivot tables) to manage large amounts of financial data.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong prioritization and organizational skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to follow written processes, use multiple databases including financial systems to reconcile accounts, and recommend solutions to discrepancies.
- Continue to monitor accounts and systems on an ongoing basis.
Days, Monday‑Friday; work outside of standard business hours may be required.
Salary / Pay BandPay Band: B8;
Salary range: $45,400 to $49,000 annually.

- Successful completion of a background check and credit check (for purchase card usage).
- Motor vehicle reports for positions requiring driving a university vehicle.
- Proof of completed academic degree(s) and post‑secondary coursework for faculty hires.
- Responsibility for confidentiality, availability, and integrity of sensitive information.
Position requires a satisfactory Consumer Credit check as a condition of employment.
