Job ProfileThe bank is recruiting a Portfolio Manager who will be responsible for underwriting, credit monitoring, and portfolio management of Commercial Banking relationships.
Primary responsibilities include analyzing financial data to determine the merits of loan requests, recommending structure, as well as identifying cross‑selling/referring opportunities of other services as well as monitoring the loan portfolio to ensure performance, accuracy, and risk appetite.
Education Level- Bachelor’s Degree or combination of education and directly related experience
- 5 plus years of banking experience with direct portfolio management experience
- Background in Accounting or Finance (preferred)
- Analyze and create financial loan write‑ups to generate new loans.
- Assist in accurately risk rating loans/credits.
- Assist Relationship Manager in underwriting, managing, and structuring commercial lines, Asset Based lending Line of Credit, Owner Occupied Real Estate, Sponsor Back, and Leverage Buy Out transactions, according to the Bank’s established guidelines and policies.
- Assist with due diligence/analysis with new client relationships, and opportunity memos as appropriate.
- Co‑manage the commercial relationships by analyzing financial data to determine the merits of specific loan requests and recommend structure as well as aggressively managing the client relationship.
- Develop problem loan credit solutions.
- Ensure the portfolio administration and risk management of each client relationship is in compliance with established EWB credit policy, procedure, and business strategy as well as commercial and regulatory guidelines.
- Manage the renewal process by working with the Relationship Manager, the client, and the credit department including increase/amendment/waiver.
- May make presentations on specific loans and participate in the bank’s Loan Approval Process, recommending approval and appropriate structure of credits.
- Ongoing monitoring of credit/Covenant Compliance.
- Partner with the Relationship Manager as the point of contact for the client; acting as a liaison to the Credit Department, the Commercial support staff, and other internal business partners.
- Perform other administrative duties required for the maintenance of a portfolio of clients.
- Responsible for credit risk and quality of the portfolio.
- Work with credit analysts in reviewing existing credits.
Perform other duties and special projects as needed.
- Demonstrates strong underwriting and projection skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a focus on quality and integrity.
- Strong knowledge of Commercial and Industrial Loans including Asset Based transactions, Sponsor Back/Cash Flow loans.
- Strong understanding of credit policy and procedures and can accurately risk‑rate loans/credits, and evaluate both cash‑flow and collateral‑based loans/credits.
- Must be proficient in Excel for purposes of financial modeling.
