Overview
Financial Services professionals perform valuations for clients, providing expert testimony and supporting valuations before regulatory bodies and the IRS. The role is hybrid‑based and preferably located in Chicago or Atlanta.
Role OverviewProfessional experience in valuation standards and methodologies. The position can be at Associate or Senior Associate level based on candidate experience.
Responsibilities- Apply standards of value including fair market value, fair value, intrinsic value, and investment value.
- Oversight of ongoing projects and client relationships.
- Apply premises of value such as going concern, fair market, and liquidation.
- Utilize valuation approaches and methodologies:
- Market approach: guideline company method, merger and acquisition (transaction) method, market pricing for services, compensation; sales comparison approach utilizing recent transactions and appropriate units of comparison.
- Income approach: discounted cash flow method, capitalization of earnings method, etc.
- Asset approach: discrete/collective revaluation of assets and liabilities.
- Cost approach: estimation of costs to replicate a service or asset.
- Perform financial statement analysis including ratio, common‑sized, and trend analyses.
- Determine discount/capitalization rates using buildup method, capital asset pricing model, weighted average cost of capital, and other quantitative approaches.
- Assess minority interest discounts/control premiums.
- Calculate discounts for lack of marketability using restricted stock studies, pre‑IPO studies, and other quantitative methods.
- Conduct intangible asset valuations and address entity valuation issues regarding C‑corporations, S‑corporations, partnerships, and sole proprietor ships.
- 1+ year of experience performing bank valuations for financial reporting, including valuing loan portfolios, core deposit intangibles and customer relationship intangibles.
- Undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics (preferred).
- Valuation experience in other financial services segments such as insurance brokerage, specialty finance, and mortgage banking is a plus.
- Progress toward ASA, CVA, CPA, and/or CFA designation is a plus.
- Willingness to travel less than 25%.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Base pay range is approximately $65,000 to $155,000. The disclosed range is specific to markets considered and is not adjusted for geographical differential at the location where the position may be filled. The range does not include additional benefits outside of salary.
