Americas Statutory Controller

The Microsoft Americas Statutory Controllership and Intercompany Center of Excellence team is part of the Global Finance Operations organization. The team ensures statutory accounting and regulatory obligations for the Americas and Canada for the business streams that run through the Americas Operations Center:
Volume Licensing, original equipment manufacturers (OEM), Xbox Third Party, and Skype US. It also ensures compliant financial processes for recording and settlement of global intercompany transactions. The Americas Statutory Controller role will manage several US and LATAM entities, oversee Financial Close, and coordinate external audits and statutory financial statements, including local adjustments and disclosures under IFRS 16 leases.

• Prepare and review complex accounting records in line with accounting policies and guidelines; interpret reports for managers and stakeholders.
• Prepare and review complex financial statements and regulatory disclosures; partner with auditors and business partners.
• Manage day-to-day governance of the vendor team, reviewing outputs, KPIs, and metrics to ensure accuracy and compliance per the outsourcing model.
• Serve as primary point of contact for local controllers; coordinate with Regional Operating Centre, Corporate Accounting, Corporate Tax, and external firms.
• Contribute to process-improvement efforts by collecting feedback and applying industry best practices.
• Research and document accounting standards, guidelines, and policies; respond to complex questions to ensure full US GAAP and IFRS compliance.
• Support new Finance initiatives including tax structure, intercompany and transfer pricing processes, and other strategic projects.
• Uphold the culture and values of the organization.

Required/Minimum Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Business, Accounting/Finance, or related field AND 3+ years accounting or finance experience OR Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting/Finance, or related field AND 4+ years accounting or finance experience
• OR equivalent experience
• 1+ year of experience with US GAAP/IFRS financial statement preparation

Accounting IC4 – The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $96,500 - $188,400 per year. There is a different range for specific locations (San Francisco Bay Area and NYC metropolitan area) with base pay USD $123,500 - $206,400 per year.
