The EY Quantitative Economics and Statistics (QUEST) practice is an interdisciplinary team that brings together more than 50 economists, statisticians, and business analysts, many with deep industry and government experience. A number of our team members have held positions with the US Treasury Department, President’s Council of Economic Advisers, Congressional Budget Office, Internal Revenue Service, US Census Bureau, Energy Department, and research organizations — and 70% of QUEST professionals hold advanced degrees in their respective fields.
Our team has developed proprietary tools and a data-driven approaches based on a deep understanding of economic and tax data from a wide range of sources. This understanding of how each data point is defined and estimated means we avoid common data pitfalls and produce results that preserve the quantitative meaning of the data. We model economic impacts, legislative changes, regulatory impacts, tax policy, climate policy, and conduct surveys.
EY’s QUEST practice is seeking an economist to join our team of economists and statisticians in Washington, D.C. as a senior analyst.
Your key responsibilities- Quantitatively analyze and model economic, tax, regulatory policies, or social policies, including workforce, housing, and public health initiatives
- Analyze the effectiveness of public policies and programs, with a focus on program evaluation, outcome measurement, and population-level impacts
- Conduct econometric analysis and forecasting of macroeconomic and fiscal conditions including GDP and tax revenue
- Construct economic and statistical models to estimate the economic, fiscal, and programmatic impact of policy and program interventions
- Interpret and synthesize academic research in the field of economics, public finance, and social policy domains, incorporating findings, results, and methodologies into analytic work
- Write and edit reports that translate technical quantitative analyses to broad audiences such as government officials and other participants in policy discussions
- Craft data visualizations that highlight key insights from quantitative and program evaluation analyses
- Master's or Ph.D. in public policy / economics /public finance or related quantitative discipline
- A minimum of 3 years of related work experience, with exposure to fiscal policy, social policy, economic analysis, and program evaluation
- Excellent analytical skills and the ability to apply quantitative methods in a business consulting environment
- Experience working with cross-sector datasets linking economic, health, and housing-related data
- Strong technical skills in data analysis using both Microsoft Excel (e.g., advanced Excel formulas) and coding languages such as SAS and R; familiarity with Python or other tools is a plus
- Interpersonal skills and a commitment to teamwork and the ability to direct the work of other team members
- Strong written and visual communication skills, including the ability to translate technical findings for non-technical audiences
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a team environment and deliver high-quality work under deadlines
