Job Summary
The Vice President, Tax will lead the overall development and execution of global tax activities in support of the company's objectives. In this leadership role, they will be responsible for all tax functions to include but not limited to global income tax planning, payments and compliance, sales and provincial sales, use, property, tax audit, and strategy. The ideal leader has operated successfully at a global level, having a desire to develop, mentor and coach a tax team.
A highly visible role, including interaction with the executive team and board, the VP will work closely with finance and business leaders to develop tax planning initiatives, to identify potential tax issues and to recommend solutions. The position requires a senior level financial leader with not only tax experience, but a professional who has exceptional strategic and conceptual capabilities, sound business acumen, and a collaborative style.
The ideal candidate will manage a wide range of responsibilities and provide guidance and support to ensure the integrity and operational effectiveness of the tax function.

Key Responsibilities
Lead and develop global tax strategy and structure to support corporate and business goals through effective planning, audit management, risk management, documentation, and research.
Proactively lead and develop team by creating a positive environment where they are challenged, motivated and prepared for advancement.
Oversee accounting for income taxes and tax disclosures including establishing methodology and tools to compute and report all necessary financial statement tax related disclosures efficiently and effectively.
Develop and implement tax planning strategies and direct tactical efforts to maximize tax benefits, increase after tax cash flows and mitigate tax exposure. Efforts include tax-efficient global business structures (including tax-efficient repatriation), transfer pricing, R&D and manufacturing credits, and compliance reporting associated with existing tax incentive grants.
Identify and execute on opportunities for process improvements and transformation efforts within the global tax organization.
Lead review of tax implications of new legal entities, operating models, or transactions, including tax structuring, contract evaluation and negotiation, tax due diligence, tax risk evaluation, strategic planning, and implementation. Responsible for all tax planning, diligence and integration activities for mergers and acquisitions.
Partner with the finance, legal, operations and business units to provide guidance as it relates to tax issues.
Direct tax compliance efforts to ensure all income and transactions (sales, VAT / GST, excise, and property) tax returns, extensions, and payments are accurately and timely filed and well documented.
Ensure GAAP compliance, including ownership of business process documentation and effective design and operation of key controls, responsible for documentation of all relevant tax accounting positions.
Monitor tax legislation and accounting guidance to ensure proper tax reporting; report on material pending legislation. Engage, coordinate, and manage outside consultants for various tax related projects and studies.
