Assistant Manager - Surveillance

We are seeking an Assistant Manager to join our Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac Asset Management team.

• Lead a team of asset management professionals and promote best practices for direct portfolio management.
• Assist in recruitment, training, and development of assigned teams.
• Review deliverables for quality control and provide feedback.
• Conduct mid‑year and annual performance reviews.
• Assist in setting and evaluating individual team member goals.
• Troubleshoot, review, and execute rotating deliverables such as financial analyses, variance comments, action plans, forward risk analyses, valuations, inspections, post‑closing consents, market reports, and other responsibilities.
• Work with Asset Managers to ensure the portfolio’s risk profile is accurately represented and proactively mitigate risk.
• Demonstrate expertise in investor guidelines and internal procedures to communicate requirements to team members.
• Facilitate broader groups for pressing deliverable cycles and evolving policies as needed.
• Monitor portfolio risk and serve as responsible party for related deliverables or communications between internal and external stakeholders.
• Monitor borrower compliance with loan documents to ensure covenant compliance.
• Work closely with borrowers, property management agents, and internal/external parties to identify and create solutions to credit weakness, emerging risks, performance defaults, and monetary defaults.
• Prepare risk rating recommendations for assets within the assigned portfolio.
• Navigate special projects with minimal oversight.
• Handle other responsibilities as assigned.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Real Estate, Accounting, or Economics.
• Minimum five years of experience in real estate with emphasis on risk/financial analysis, valuations, relationship management, workouts, capital markets, or asset management.
• Strong knowledge of multifamily asset markets.
• Prior experience with servicing and asset management of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac multifamily loans.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word.
• Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Strong self‑motivation, ownership, and leadership.
• Ability to execute and delegate multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Preference for prior team management experience.
