Merrill Team Financial Advisor Business Development Program

Merrill Wealth Management provides comprehensive wealth management and investment solutions for individuals, companies, and institutions. The Team Financial Advisor (TFA) role focuses on building a book of business, acquiring clients, and delivering suitable investment advice while supported by Merrill and Bank of America’s resources.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop a book of business to meet and exceed required performance hurdles.
  • Effectively source prospective clients, capitalize on referrals, assess customer needs, and refer customers to the appropriate service provider.
  • Recommend investment products and services that are suitable for prospects and clients based on objectives, resources, time horizon, risk profile, and preferences.
  • Balance investment growth, referral activities, customer follow‑up, prospect building, administrative compliance, and personal growth according to a day‑to‑day and longer‑term plan.
  • Plan and manage resources (time, people, budget) to run a productive practice.
  • Seek the expertise of specialists, where appropriate, to identify planning and investment strategies for a client.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with the management team and inform management of any circumstances that require supervisory attention, review, or approval per compliance guidelines and policies.
  • Complete mandated training, assessments, performance goals, and continuing education requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Acquire clients through personalized marketing techniques to meet minimum performance hurdles.
  • Obtain necessary licensing and registrations (Series7, Series
    66, and Insurance).
  • Complete the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) Investment Planning Course and the Financial Planning course.
  • Successfully complete ongoing developmental assessments throughout the training.
  • Study a variety of topics and participate in developmental activities, including Merrill strategy, products & services, wealth management process, desktop technology, marketing consultative sales skills, and investment financial planning knowledge.
  • Meet the performance and development requirements of the Financial Advisor Development Program and transition to a full Financial Advisor upon completion.

  • Proficiency in using Salesforce/Client Relationship Manager tools.
