* Truist has an exciting opportunity for a results-driven Assistant Corporate Tax Director to play a meaningful role on our Corporate Tax Team. This role will report to the Director of Federal Tax Planning and Controversy and will focus primarily on the review, analysis, and risk assessment of complex tax credit transactions, as well as other significant federal income tax planning, advisory, and transactional matters.
The successful candidate will work closely with internal business, legal, finance/accounting, risk, and external tax advisors to identify and address tax issues, mitigate tax risk, support M&A and restructuring activity, and help ensure that material tax positions are appropriately analyzed, documented, communicated, and implemented.

Review, analyze, and advise on complex tax credit transactions (e.g., investment tax credit, new markets tax credit, low-income housing tax credit, etc.), including identifying material federal income tax issues, evaluating transaction structures, assessing technical tax positions, and recommending approaches to appropriately mitigate tax risk.

Analyze tax credit investments, transferability arrangements, partnership structures, and other tax-advantaged transactions to determine whether tax issues have been appropriately addressed in transaction documents, financial models, tax opinions, accounting analyses, and related supporting materials.
3.
Research, analyze, and resolve highly complex federal income tax issues, applying a thorough understanding of relevant tax law, tax accounting principles, regulatory accounting considerations, and business objectives.

Prepare, review, and communicate technical tax analyses and position documentation, including explaining conclusions and the underlying "why" to tax and non-tax stakeholders at various levels within the organization.
5.
Review transaction documents and related materials, identify tax issues and risk areas, recommend revisions or best practices, and coordinate with internal legal, finance/accounting, risk, business, and external advisor teams as needed.
6.
Provide tax technical support for restructuring, M&A, investment, financing, and other strategic transactions from a U.S. federal income tax perspective, including evaluating alternative structures and assisting with diligence and implementation.
7.
Advise business stakeholders on the tax implications of proposed transactions, deal structures, business products, and strategic initiatives.
8.
Collaborate with business and corporate stakeholders to develop and implement tax-efficient structures for transactions, investments, products, and other initiatives.
9.
Identify and analyze tax planning opportunities and manage cross-functional project teams to effectively evaluate, document, and implement tax planning initiatives.
10.
Develop or review tax models to analyze the impact of tax strategies, changes in tax law, complex transactions, and tax credit investments on the company's overall tax position.
