The Tax Analyst supports the firm's tax compliance functions across federal, state, and local levels and is responsible for reconciling balance sheets and expense accounts, reviewing and preparing sales and use tax returns, property tax returns, and various state tax and business license filings; managing fixed asset review and booking to ensure accuracy and consistency across the firm's financial records. The Tax Analyst provides analytical support for tax planning initiatives, responds to partner tax inquiries, and identifies opportunities to strengthen tax processes and internal controls under the guidance and support of the Director of Tax.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Respond to information requests from partners, tax authorities and internal departments, preparing supporting documentation as needed.
  • Compile income attributable to market-based or cost-of-performance states.
  • Analyze tax expense accounts and prepare balance sheet analyses to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Prepare and process quarterly partner tax estimates across multiple states, including submission of inoices and payment confirmations in Emburse.
  • Review invoices for sales and use tax compliance through Emburse (AP automation software) and file returns with applicable tax authorities as needed.
  • Review property tax rendition forms from various jurisdictions; adjust, file and remit payment as needed.
  • Prepare year-end and quarterly tax work papers and other tax analysis as needed.
  • Review federal and state tax returns prepared by third-party advisors for accuracy and completeness.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to improve processes and maintain data integrity.
  • Support special tax and non-tax projects, including state tax compliance, pass-through entity taxes, parking analysis, charitable contributions analysis, and meals and entertainment deductibility.
  • Assist with the annual budgeting process.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of attorney and firm information.

Required

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Accounting or Finance.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in a Tax Analyst or comparable role.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office required, with advanced Excel skills.

Compensation is dependent on several factors, such as position, location, market, education, training, and/or experience.

Hiring Salary Range: $50,000.00 - $70,000.00
