Canary Hiring Technologies is hiring a hands‑on Director of Finance and Administration in Atlanta, GA. This full‑time, hybrid role combines Controller, FP&A, and operations work for a multi‑entity software company that is growing through acquisitions. You'll own our books, cash, and reporting. You'll also be the CEO's partner in running the company better. This is a doer role: you'll close the month yourself, build the models yourself, and fix the processes yourself.
About us:

Our product lines cover onboarding, applicant tracking, and background checks. We've grown through several acquisitions. Now we need one person to bring finance and administration across all of them into a single, well‑run operation.

- Manage cash, AR and collections, AP, and the 13-week cash forecast.
- Build and maintain the annual budget, forecasts, and operating models.
- Report on revenue, gross margin, and customer economics by product line. This includes ARR, churn, and retention.

- Move acquired companies onto one chart of accounts, accounting system, billing process, and payroll and benefits platform.
- Lead the migration of an acquired company's Net Suite instance. This includes evaluating whether to consolidate onto a single Net Suite instance or move to Quick Books Enterprise, then running the cutover.
- Build a repeatable integration playbook for future acquisitions.
- Support financial diligence and modeling on new acquisition targets.
- Build the KPI dashboards that leadership uses to run the business each week.
- Find and fix inefficiencies, including unprofitable customers, pricing gaps, vendor overspend, and manual processes.
- Partner with the CEO and department leaders on headcount planning, pricing, and resource decisions.
- Choose and implement finance and operations systems, such as the GL, billing, expense management, and payroll.
- Run payroll, benefits, and HR administration, either directly or through a PEO.
- Manage insurance, corporate compliance, licenses, and state registrations across entities.
- Own vendor contracts, renewals, and procurement.
- Keep entity records and corporate governance documents organized.
- 8+ years in accounting and finance, including at least 3 years as a Controller, Finance Manager, or head of finance at a growing company.
- Hands‑on experience running a month‑end close and multi‑entity consolidations yourself.
- Experience integrating at least one acquired business, covering its books, systems, payroll, or benefits.
- Strong financial modeling skills and advanced Excel or Google Sheets.
- Working knowledge of GAAP, cash management, and payroll, benefits, and HR compliance.
- You're comfortable as a team of one, or close to it, and you enjoy doing the work, not just reviewing it.
