Job Title
Director – Export & Trade Compliance

Responsibilities- Develop and manage the export control program ensuring compliance with ITAR, EAR, OFAC, FAR, and other applicable regulations.
- Lead implementation of trade compliance initiatives across campus, aligning with local, U.S., and USG policy.
- Provide education and training to staff and stakeholders on compliance, including problem‑solving tools and continuous‑improvement practices.
- Serve as part of the ORIA leadership team, integrating export control, compliance, and research integrity needs.
- Manage and supervise drafting, submission, tracking of ITAR/EAR authorizations, evaluating exemptions and exceptions.
- Act as subject‑matter expert on trade issues such as country‑of‑origin determinations, valuations, embargoes, anti‑boycott compliance, and red‑flag issues.
- Support import/export compliance activities, licenses, auditing, and process redesign.
- Identify protocols requiring special review and maintain confidentiality throughout the review process.
- Serve as the primary empowered official for transactional compliance and guide appointment of additional empowered officials.
- Perform any other job‑related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Public Affairs, Engineering, Physical Sciences, or a related field; or equivalent education and experience.
- Seven or more years of experience in research administration (industry or higher education) with at least five years of significant export‑control expertise.
- More than two years of management experience.
- Export‑control certifications such as ECoP, EXCS, or CUSECO.
- Membership in the State Bar of Georgia or eligibility to obtain a license within 12 months.
- Juris Doctorate or advanced science/engineering degree focused on trade controls.
- Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Public Affairs, Engineering, Physical Sciences, or related field.
$140,000 – $155,000
Other Information- This is a supervisory position.
- No financial responsibilities.

- Position of trust (requires background check). Includes credit, education, and background checks.
- Travel up to 10% of the time.
