Job SummaryThe Contracts Specialist is responsible for providing assistance and guidance to faculty and research staff in the preparation, processing, and submission of research grant and contract proposals. This role monitors the performance of grant and contract awards.
Responsibilities- Participate in proposal preparation and processing by advising faculty and staff on the submission process and compliance with government regulations and Institute policy.
- Submit proposals to granting agencies using electronic research submission systems.
- Evaluate or monitor contractor performance to determine necessity for amendments or extensions of contracts, and compliance with contractual obligations.
- Interact with funding agencies to ensure compliance with applicable government regulations and Institute policy.
- Assess contractor service value and product/service reliability relative to cost, and plan, organize, and coordinate acquisition alternatives.
- Continuously monitor and evaluate contractor performance against contract specifications and recommend appropriate remedial action as necessary.
- Serve as a primary liaison with contracting representatives to ensure compliance with contract specifications and resolve problems and issues, as they arise; arbitrate claims or complaints occurring in the performance of contracts.
- Provide input into the formulation, development, and/or revision of operating policies, procedures, and strategies for the organization, as appropriate.
- Coordinate the contract review process; collect, route, and track; note time-sensitive/expedited requirements; assist with review assignments.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
- Associate's Degree in a related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Two or more years of relevant experience.
- Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline or equivalent.
- Prior experience working in grants/contracts.
- Prior experience navigating enterprise software systems/databases.
- Performs all the standard and technical aspects of the job.
- Applies knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Has established knowledge of professional principles and skills and Institute policies, practices, and procedures.
