Minimum QualificationsMUST HAVE PUBLIC SAFETY DISPATCH EXPERIENCE High School Diploma or GED required, to include two (2) years of Emergency Dispatch experience or one (1) year of experience working as Communications Officer I within (Fulton County Government Emergency Services current or former employee only). Experience credit will be granted for each active certification the applicant possess from the list below.

The following Certifications MUST be attained within a year of employment and maintained during the applicants employment. Georgia Crime Information Center (GCIC)/National Crime Information Center (NCIC) Certification (1), Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) Certification (1), Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation CPR) certification (1), Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Certification (3), National Incident Management System (NIMS) courses (1), and Certification on all Dispatch Consoles.

Special Requirements
* All applicants must agree to and successfully pass a background investigation, skills assessment, psychological evaluation, physical/drug screening and polygraph to be considered for employment with the Fulton County Emergency Services department.*
Must possess a valid Georgia Driver's License at the time of appointment. Must be at least eight-teen (18) years of age. Must conform to the following qualifications as required by the Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training Act:
Be a citizen of the United States;
Have a high school diploma or its recognized equivalent (G.E.D.);
Not have been convicted by any state or the federal government of any crime, the punishment for which could have been imprisonment in a federal or state prison or institution; nor have been convicted of sufficient misdemeanors to establish a pattern of disregard for the law, provided that, for the purposes of this paragraph, violations of traffic laws and other offenses involving the operation of a motor vehicle when the applicant has received a pardon shall not be considered.

ExaminationThe examination will consist of an evaluation of education and experience, accomplished by analysis of the application. Application must document that the applicant possesses the minimum knowledge, skills, education and experience as listed to be rated as qualified. If selected, an official, accredited college transcript is required, at time of employment, for all degrees/course work used to qualify for this position.
PurposeOf Classification
The purpose of this classification is to perform duties related to answering and dispatching emergency 911 calls in the Department of Emergency Services. Responsibilities include answering emergency and non-emergency 911 calls, providing life‑saving instructions, and dispatching appropriate response units in a timely manner while ensuring field units’ safety. This classification is distinguished from E911 Communications Officer III in that this class answers emergency and non-emergency calls, monitors service providers’ activities, and dispatches calls;
whereas the latter conducts on‑the‑job training programs for Communications Officers and serves as shift lead as required. Incumbent works within a 24‑hour, seven (7) days per week operation and performs shift work as required, including working holidays and weekends.
