Compensation Details: $52,000.00

Job Description
  • Under supervision, the Building Inspector (Special Hazards) is responsible for inspecting facilities and construction sites that involve hazardous materials, high-risk operations, or specialized systems.
  • Inspect specialized systems such as gas detection, fire suppression, hazardous exhaust, explosion control, and containment systems.
  • Verify compliance with applicable codes and regulations, such NFPA standards, OSHA regulations, and local ordinances.
  • Inspects Racetracks for compliance with the codes, rules and regulations.
  • Investigate incidents, complaints, or violations involving hazardous materials or unsafe practices.
  • Issue correction notices, citations, or stop-work orders when necessary; ensure timely follow-up and compliance.
  • Collaborate with fire departments, environmental health agencies, and emergency response teams to assess and mitigate risks.
  • Maintain detailed records of inspections, findings, and enforcement actions using inspection software and databases.
  • Stay updated with emerging codes, technologies, and materials relevant to hazardous operations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma/GED and two (2) years of job-related experience; or one (1) year of experience required at the lower level Safety & Complnc Spec 1 (RCP
    010) or position equivalent.
