Overview

Shift: 7a-5:30p. This is 7 on / 7 off Wednesday to Tuesday rotation.

Description

Under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist, procures, prepares, packages, distributes and disposes medications and pharmaceutical supplies to assist the department in providing quality pharmaceutical care for all patients.

Responsibilities
  • Maintains an established inventory of drugs and commonly used supplies; re‑orders and stocks items upon delivery to ensure immediate availability.
  • Maintains competency and follows departmental, USP, DEA, and FDA guidelines when repackaging and compounding pharmaceutical products. Properly operates, troubleshoots, monitors, and cleans departmental automation and equipment.
  • Ensures Pharmacist product verification and facilitates the timely and appropriate distribution of medications to maintain product integrity.
  • Maintains accurate records and patient profiles including charging and crediting.
  • Responds timely to customers' needs by answering phone calls, receiving and distributing messages, and triaging requests appropriately.
  • Understands and implements appropriate time management and prioritization of tasks ensuring timely and safe patient care.
  • Assists with operational support functions, including minor housekeeping activities and department cleaning/disinfecting/decontaminating standards to maintain the work area.
  • Conducts regular quality assurance inspections focused on TJC requirements, including the examination of product integrity and expiration.
  • Maintains competency and follows departmental, OSHA, USP, and EPA guidelines to safely and accurately handle, prepare, distribute, and dispose of hazardous and non‑hazardous product.
  • Participates in professional activities and organizations to maintain knowledge of current trends, practices, and developments.
  • Completes all required training and competency assessments in a timely fashion.
  • Attends educational in‑services as appropriate.
  • Assists in the orientation and training of new personnel.
  • May serve as a resource for less experienced staff, providing technical information and guidance in pharmacy techniques and policies to ensure the delivery of efficient, quality service.
  • May perform other duties as assigned or requested.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred. Successful completion of an ASHP accredited technician training program or enrollment in a professional‑related school preferred. 6 months experience as Pharmacy Technician or completion of ASHP‑accredited tech training program preferred.
  • Current CPhT certification through either PTCB or NHA and active Georgia Pharmacy Technician registration, or current enrollment in an accredited School of Pharmacy with a current Georgia Pharmacy Intern license.
  • Must maintain certification and registration through entire length of employment.
