Job Summary:
The Physical Therapist II serves as a primary clinician, providing comprehensive physical therapy evaluations, treatments, and education to patients with complex medical and surgical conditions. This role involves collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, setting measurable patient goals, ensuring high-quality care in alignment with established standards and serving as a Clinical Instructor for short term and long-term students, and may assist with Residents.
Hours:
Alternative schedule to help cover the late joint surgeries. 11a-7:30p on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday. 9am-5:30pm Wednesday and Friday. Weekends and holidays per department policy.
- Education:
Graduation from a Physical Therapy Program accredited by CAPTE. - Experience:
At least one year of clinical experience as a physical therapist. - Licensure: A valid, unencumbered Physical Therapist License approved by Georgia Board of Physical Therapy
- Certifications:
Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Patient Care & Treatment: Conducts comprehensive evaluations, testing, and treatment for patients with complex medical and surgical conditions; educates patients and their families in a manner tailored to their needs; develops and adjusts individualized treatment plans with clear, measurable goals; ensures daily practices align with established patient care standards; recommends appropriate equipment for patient care; assists other staff in assessing patients and problems.
- Collaboration & Communication: Communicates effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team; participates in interdisciplinary team conferences to enhance patient care; works cooperatively with other team members to maintain a positive and results-oriented work environment; collaborates with care teams and community resources for post-discharge planning and follow-up; responds to requests for professional information or advice, referring complex matters to appropriate personnel;
participates in quality assurance activities; assists department in performing peer reviews and giving feedback to support staff; participates in patient care committee initiatives as requested by the department; mentors staff when appropriate. - Operational Responsibilities: Plans treatment schedules for optimal staff and equipment use; maintains productivity while adhering to quality standards; monitors and ensures compliance with infection control and sterile technique protocols; documents patient care details and records service charges accurately; manages inventory, equipment maintenance, and work area organization; serves as a Clinical Instructor for short term and long-term students and may assist with Residents;
assists with new staff orientation; maintains clear and accurate interdisciplinary and interdepartmental information flow. - Professional Development & Compliance: Attends relevant educational in-services and professional activities to stay current on industry practices; works with the Leader to develop a professional growth plan; delegates tasks effectively as appropriate; adheres to all applicable policies, protocols, and regulations; supports and participates in research activities as requested by the department; contributes to the professional community and community at large; performs other related duties as assigned.
