We are seeking a Safety Director for an Electrical Contractor client of ours in Atlanta, GA. This is a newly created position that will oversee a group of Safety Managers and sites.
Key Responsibilities:- Design, implement, and oversee robust health and safety programs that comply with OSHA requirements along with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
- Create and maintain project-specific safety procedures tailored to electrical operations.
- Perform routine jobsite inspections, safety audits, and hazard evaluations across projects both locally and out of town (travel required) to proactively identify and mitigate risks.
- Partner with project management teams to conduct incident investigations, applying root cause analysis methodologies to determine contributing factors and recommend preventative measures.
- Organize and lead safety meetings, training workshops, and professional development initiatives to strengthen employee understanding of safe work practices and regulatory expectations.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive documentation including incident reports, audit findings, training records, and compliance materials in line with reporting standards.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with environmental and occupational health regulations, including EPA‑related guidelines.
- Keep informed of updates to workers’ compensation legislation and provide support in the administration and management of claims when required.
- Act as the primary liaison for clients regarding safety‑related questions, issues, and compliance matters.
- Remain current with evolving safety regulations, industry developments, and best practices in safety management.
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety or a related discipline preferred, though not mandatory.
- In-depth understanding of OSHA standards, NFPA 70E, occupational health regulations, workers’ compensation laws, and related compliance requirements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and Procore software. Familiarity with contractor prequalification platforms such as ISNetworld, Avetta, PEC, and similar systems is required.
- Professional safety certification (e.g., Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST)) preferred.
- Current certification in First Aid, CPR, and basic emergency response.
- At least five years of experience in safety coordination, administration, or a comparable field.
- Strong written communication skills with the ability to produce clear, thorough, and accurate reports; effective verbal communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
- Demonstrated experience applying root cause analysis techniques to evaluate and resolve safety incidents.
- Capability to deliver impactful training sessions that promote safe behaviors and workforce engagement.
- Willingness and ability to travel to project sites outside the local area; per diem compensation will be provided based on travel location.
This position requires either strong Electrical Contractor, or data center/mission critical experience. Both would be the preference.
