Job Responsibilities- Develop and implement treatment programs to further patients’ functional skills, which are then periodically reassessed and adapted.
- Communicate effectively and collaborate with the team.
- Demonstrate professional behaviors and expectations.
- Help patients develop, regain, or maintain their ability to perform daily activities.
- Plan and develop effective patient and family training to ensure proper patient care.
- Make recommendations for specialty services or consultations as needed.
- Use evaluation findings to determine appropriate discharge planning needs.
- Participate effectively in intra‑departmental staff meetings and discipline/program committee assignments.
- Participate in education programs by teaching and supervising students.
- Participate in research projects as needed.
- Complete and submit required documentation according to program guidelines.
- Provide skilled interventions as outlined by AOTA.
- Be willing to treat a diverse population and ready to learn and grow clinical skills.
- Participate in patient team conferences.
- Facilitate patient goals through Goal Attainment Scaling.
- Communicate with clients and families to develop rapport, review POC, progress, and transition to the next level of care.
- Ensure appropriate recommendations are made for DME needs for safe transition.
- Document information clearly, completely, and in a timely manner according to Center policy.
- Carry out interventions that are supported by evidence‑based practice standards.
- Use resources and integrate technology for creative or innovative patient experience.
- Operate consistently with Shepherd Center standards, clinical policies, and procedures.
- Practice proper safety techniques in accordance with Center and departmental policies and procedures; report injuries or safety issues to supervisor and in the occurrence notification system.
- Actively participate in center‑wide efforts that affect occupational therapy practice.
- Establish relationships with other occupational therapists.
- Meet transportation and driving guidelines as needed.
- Float to inpatient or post‑acute programs to provide patient evaluation or treatment sessions as needed.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, organizational standards, and policies related to area of responsibility; identify potential risk areas and support problem resolution.
- Perform other duties as required, requested, or assigned.
Minimum Education
- A degree from an accredited program in occupational therapy.
- BLS required.
- Licensed to practice in the state of Georgia. (For provision of OT Telehealth, clinician must be licensed to practice in the state in which the client is residing).

- Basic computer skills.
- Knowledge of growth, development, and ability to obtain, interpret and disseminate information in terms of age‑specific patient needs (adolescent, adult, and geriatric).
