In the United States, one of best practices people of any age can do is to weave physical activity into their daily lives. Physical Activity is essential for aging healthy. It reduces the onset of chronic diseases which may prevent an early death.
Communities supporting physical activity are those that contain parks, schools and stores that are accessible to their community. These communities are safe, and have easily accessible places to walk, roll, play and bicycle. The design of these communities encourage personal connection by providing friendly routes for activities and destinations.
PurposeThe purpose of this work is to provide CDC’s Division of Nutrition, Physical Activity and Obesity (DNPAO), Physical Activity and Health Branch (PAHB) subject matter expertise in physical activity analyses using modern data analytical methods and unique datasets to document the impact of DNPAO physical activity investments.
