Responsibilities:
Reviews, analyzes, and assigns codes based on appropriate coding guidelines and criteria for outpatient medical record documentation to include, but not limited to: medical, diagnostic and surgical documentation for assignment of the correct ICD-10-CM and/or CPT-4 HCPCS codes. Primary coding responsibility is Hospital Outpatient Surgery, Wound Care and Observation.
Qualifications:
Education
- H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required
Work Experience
- Hospital coding experience Required
- Experience in coding at a multi-hospital organization and remote coding experience is Preferred
Licenses and Certifications
- One or more certifications Upon Hire Required
- RHIA
- Registered Health Information Administrator or - RHIT
- Registered Health Information Technician or - CCS-Certified Coding Specialist or
- CCA
- Certified Coding Associate or - CCS-P or
- CPC, CPC-A, CPC-H or
- Coding Certificate program (AHIMA accredited) Preferred
