Job DescriptionSupport the Convention Services Department by ensuring a consistent product to standards, while maximizing profitability and protecting the integrity of the guest experience.
Responsibilities- Leadership of a team of Conference Service Managers
- Regularly serve as service manager for high profile meetings/conventions and key accounts
- Serve on hotel Sales and Conference Services leadership team
- Responsible for elevating the meeting planner and guest experience for all group clients
- In the absence of the Director of Catering & Conference Services, serve as departmental leader
- Achieve Banquet & Catering revenue targets
- Support hotel in achieving profitability targets
- Support the hotel sales team in reaching annual group budget targets
- Organize and audit convention files for servicing.
- Know the pricing and inventory of the sleeping accommodations and suites.
- Has thorough knowledge of hotel facility, meeting room capacities and equipment inventory so that accounts may properly be serviced.
- Attend regular departmental and hotel meetings.
- Work on special projects when assigned.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Responsible for planning, evaluating, organizing, and directing the activities of a team of Convention Service Managers
- Serve as service manager for high profile conventions and key accounts
- Responsible for ensuring that all policies, procedures and guidelines are followed by department personnel.
- Responsible for working with the convention/meeting planners in coordinating the details for conventions/meetings.
- Responsible for anticipating needs, forecasting results, analyzing and arranging work processes for personnel in the department.
- Provides the necessary training, motivation, and leadership for direct reports
- Participates in the final interview process for direct reports
- Establishes and maintains rapport with outside purveyors, who provide services for the Hotel and its guests through the Convention Services Department.
- Establishes and maintains efficient office procedures to facilitate the smooth operation of the department.
- Attends weekly Forecast and Marketing meetings.
- Ensures that all equipment used in the department is in good order, and uses preventive maintenance schedules for all equipment.
- Ensures that the desired level of quality is maintained in all meeting room sets on a continuing basis.
- Ensures that all file turnover requirements (from Sales to Convention Services) are fulfilled.
- Responsible for overseeing the coordination of the Hotel Banquet Event Order Books.
- Attends out-of-hotel meetings as required.
- Establishes a rapport with individuals in similar positions at other hotels.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Catering & Conference Services
Education:
Must have Associate's degree or higher and or a minimum of 3 years Convention Services leadership experience in a 4‑diamond hotel.
