About the Opportunity

Middlemore have been retained to recruit a Strategic HR Business Partner to take on one of the most exciting Strategic HR Business Partner roles in the market — a high-impact position supporting a major operational client group (~4,500 employees) working for a major player in the financial services sector. This is a rare opportunity to come in and shape the future of the People and Culture strategy, putting performance at the heart of the agenda, and getting creative with Technology, Organization Development, Strategic Workforce Planning and ultimately driving Organizational Effectiveness.

You’ll work directly with senior leaders and create a people strategy which underpins their business strategy which is focus on growth.

This is not a transactional HR role — you’ll be supported by a global HR Matrix structure who exist to provide high-quality subject matter expertise to support your interventions in specialist areas, and the Global HR Shared Service (augmented by AI) and ‘emerging’ HR Business Partners will remove the burden of day-to-day issues such as basic HR guidance and advice, and vanilla Employee Relations issues which take you away from strategic, value‑add work.

You will influence decisions at the table, challenge thinking, and help deliver measurable business outcomes. So you need to get strategy, work well with numbers and build excellent relationships with senior level business leaders.

Why This Role is Different
  • Scale + Influence: You’ll partner with senior leaders responsible for thousands of employees across Operations, focusing your time on the top talent that drives business performance.
  • Strategic Impact: From workforce planning and organisational design to talent development, reskilling, and augmenting products and services with tech/AI — you’ll shape initiatives that enable growth and transformation.
  • Succession Potential: This role is positioned as a potential successor to the SVP, offering a clear pathway to enterprise leadership.
  • Progressive Environment: Work with a mature COE model, AI-enabled HR shared services, layers of HR generalist and ER support, and a global leadership team hungry for insight, innovation, and creative problem‑solving.
What You’ll Do
  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior business leaders, driving the alignment of people strategy with commercial objectives.
  • Lead workforce planning, organizational effectiveness, and change initiatives that improve business performance.
  • Coach and influence senior leaders, offering alternative perspectives and challenging assumptions where needed.
  • Collaborate with COEs to deliver integrated solutions in talent, reward, learning, and organisational development.
  • Build bench strength and succession pipelines for critical roles across your client group.
  • Partner with HR Operations and Employee Relations to ensure compliance, analytics, and policies are in place, freeing your focus for strategic impact.
  • Bring creativity to the fore – pilot new ideas to drive performance, develop new skills required for the future, use data to build business cases, and share your opinions shaped by experience and expertise!
What We’re Looking For
  • Experience: c.10+ years in HR, with at least 4 years in a strategic HRBP or equivalent role covering large, complex populations.
  • Track Record: Proven success driving organisational change, talent strategies, and commercial outcomes — ideally from a background in;
  • A large consulting business
  • Service or Outsourced businesses
  • B2B2C organisations
  • Consumer Finance
Skills
  • Organisational design (OD) and strategic workforce planning expertise
  • Strong influencing and coaching ability with senior executives
  • Financial and business acumen — comfortable linking people strategy to P&L outcomes
  • Core HR expertise
  • Change and Transformation
  • Experience in supporting corporate activity such as Integration activities
  • Experience in partnering with a large global operations client group would be beneficial
  • Mindset: Courageous, creative, solution‑oriented, collaborative, and comfortable challenging the status quo.
Practical Details
  • Location: Atlanta based (1–2 days per week in‑office).
  • Travel: international travel will not be frequent but may be required as part of the role (approx. 1 – 2 x per year)

This is a career‑defining role for a senior HRBP who wants to step up, take ownership of a major business unit, and help shape the next generation of HR partnership in a highly respected global organisation
