We are partnering with a fast‑growing U.S.
-based payments platform that is entering a critical phase of merchant rollout and platform maturation.
We are looking for a senior, hands‑on Payments Technology Consultant to join a short‑term, high‑impact engagement (~90 days), supporting live production systems while helping define the future‑state technical and staffing strategy.
This role is ideal for an experienced fintech technologist who comfortable operating in production environments, stabilizing systems under real transaction load, and guiding the transition from external vendor dependency to internal ownership.
You will work closely with the client’s technical leadership and be supported by Aspen View Technology Partners throughout the engagement.
What you will do:- Support live merchant onboarding in production environments
- Assist with testing, bug triage, production releases, and issue resolution
- Review and contribute to JavaScript‑based backend (Node.js) and frontend (React) code
- Ensure platform stability, uptime, and payment flow integrity during active rollout
- Participate in monitoring, troubleshooting, and incident response
- Review current platform architecture and identify scaling and performance risks
- Advise on multi‑merchant architecture
, including data separation, access controls, and configuration - Improve technical documentation, deployment consistency, and basic QA/testing processes
- Reduce reliance on external vendors by clarifying ownership and technical standards
- Recommend and help define a future in‑house technology hiring plan (engineering, QA, Dev Ops)
- Senior‑level experience as a hands‑on technologist in fintech, payments, or SaaS platforms
- Strong proficiency in Java Script , including:
- Node.js backend services
- Modern frontend frameworks (React)
- Experience building and supporting API‑driven systems (REST APIs, webhooks)
- Solid understanding of cloud infrastructure
, preferably AWS: - Environment configuration
- CI/CD pipelines
- Monitoring and logging
- Critical experience with U.S. non‑card payment systems
, including: - ACH payments
- Bank account linking (Plaid or similar)
- Reconciliation and settlement flows
- Proven experience supporting live production rollouts for merchants or customers
- Ability to operate independently while collaborating closely with technical leadership
- Strong communication skills and a pragmatic, execution‑focused mindset
- Previous experience transitioning platforms from external vendors to in‑house teams
- Background in multi‑merchant or multi‑tenant payment platforms
- Experience advising on team design and hiring strategy
- Familiarity with role‑based access controls and merchant‑level configurations
- Consulting experience in fast‑moving startup or scale‑up environments
