The Georgia Technology Authority (GTA) currently manages the delivery of IT infrastructure services to 89 Executive Branch agencies and managed network services to more than 1,200 state and local government entities. IT infrastructure services encompass mainframes, servers, service desk, end user computing, disaster recovery and security. Managed network services include the state’s wide and local area networks, voice, cable and wiring, and conferencing services.

The State Web Accessibility Coordinator ensures that all digital services, websites, applications, and electronic communications provided by state agencies are accessible to all residents, including individuals with disabilities. This position serves as the state's subject matter expert on digital accessibility, responsible for developing and guiding compliance strategies, training programs, and policy implementation in alignment with Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 AA.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and implementation of statewide web accessibility standards, policies, and best practices.
  • Conduct regular accessibility audits of public‑facing state websites and digital services using automated tools and manual testing.
  • Provide expert consultation to state agencies on digital accessibility compliance, including procurement reviews and remediation strategies.
  • Coordinate and deliver training and capacity‑building programs for agency web and content teams.
  • Collaborate with legal, IT, communications, and disability advocacy groups to promote inclusive digital experiences.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments related to digital accessibility and ensure timely updates to policies and practices.
  • Develop reporting mechanisms and metrics to track accessibility progress across agencies.
  • Serve as the primary liaison to federal agencies, accessibility vendors, and community stakeholders on digital inclusion efforts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Agency Specific Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Human‑Computer Interaction, Information Technology, Public Administration, or a related field AND three (3) years of experience in web accessibility, digital compliance, or related roles WITH:
    • Deep knowledge of WCAG, Section 508, ADA Title II, and digital accessibility testing tools (e.g., Axe, WAVE, Siteimprove, JAWS/NVDA/Voice Over).
    • Strong communication and training skills with the ability to explain technical topics to non‑technical audiences.
    • Demonstrated ability to manage cross‑agency projects and influence policy adoption.
