Valens Software is a specialized developer and distributor of enterprise-level Business Management software, focusing on the Fire and Life Safety industry. Our technology stack features web- and mobile-based applications that communicate with a hosted server platform, providing real-time database information to a wide client base.
We are seeking a System Administrator/IT Specialist who is eager to advance a career in multi-disciplinary software development, learn new cross-platform technologies, and improve their Dev Ops and System Programming skills by implementing software solutions and developing apps.
We have multiple openings at our Kennesaw, Georgia office and are looking for a resource comfortable in both team-based and solo effort scenarios.
Qualifications & ExperienceSuccessful candidates will have demonstrated experience of 2-4 years in one (or more) of the following areas:
- Amazon Web Services (EC2 management and related provisioning)
- Linux OS-level administration and programming
- Network communications, including Apache/Tomcat
- Software Deployment and Performance monitoring/alerting systems
- IT Security concepts and implementation

Required Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (minimum)
- Ability to learn quickly and effectively communicate solutions to project owners.
- Adaptable to quick decisions made by peers.
- A collaborative and great team player.
- Punctual to deadlines set by project owners.
- Transparent on issues happening throughout the development process.
- Previous knowledge of programming languages is beneficial, but not required, including:
- Isomorphic Smart Client
- Jasper Reports
- Progress ABL
This role combines system administration, Dev Ops, and development tasks:
- Manage and configure our AWS Cloud network.
- Implement best practices for Server and Software performance, including network security and governance.
- Coordinate with our Technical and Dev Ops teams.
- Communicate issues clearly and promptly as they arise.
- Accurately and efficiently estimate work requirements.
- Write database queries to allow applications to manipulate data.
- Generate reports and dashboards to inform users with key information.
- Perform unit tests and functional testing on developed code.
- Participate in peer-to-peer code reviews, project planning, and task estimation.
- Analyze and resolve application or system problems.
- Write and implement efficient code based on requirements.
- Salary Range: $65,000 – $85,000 DOE (Depending on Experience)
