About UsLocated in the fastest-growing region of the state, the University of North Georgia is a multi-campus university with an enrollment of over 20,000 students, making it one of the largest institutions in the University System of Georgia. UNG is focused on a mission of educational excellence, leadership development and community engagement opportunities that develop students into leaders for a diverse and global society.
Through a variety of educational pathways that provide access and range from certificates and associate degrees to a professional doctoral program, UNG is responsive to regional education and economic development needs. Federally designated as a senior military college, one of the university's signature leadership programs is its 800-member Corps of Cadets on UNG's Dahlonega Campus.
The Associate Chief Information Officer - IT Services is a non-technical leadership role focused on communication, partnership, and service delivery. The position supports the delivery and continuous improvement of technology services that meet the academic and administrative needs of the University of North Georgia. Working closely with the Chief Information Officer and other IT leaders, this role helps coordinate service operations, promote customer satisfaction, and ensure technology services remain aligned with university goals.
The Associate CIO serves as a key liaison between IT and campus departments helping translate functional needs into effective service delivery and fostering a culture of responsiveness and accountability. This includes learning functional needs, translating them for IT partners, and ensuring solutions are practical, user friendly, and aligned with institutional expectations. This requires strong communication, relationship-building, and analytical skills to effectively bridge the gap between technical teams and the wider campus community.
The role also supports daily IT service functions, contributes to incident and request management processes, and participates in projects that enhance the user experience. Additionally, the Associate CIO assists with strategic initiatives such as the Student Technology Fee process, engages in service planning and reporting, and supports communication efforts that promote trust, transparency, and responsiveness across campus. The ideal candidate is a collaborative leader committed to service excellence, continuous improvement, and clear, customer-centered communication.
Serves as point of contact for disaster recovery and critical support efforts, including after-hours availability. Occasional travel may be required.
