About the College of Computing at Georgia TechThe College of Computing combines foundations of mathematics and information science with interdisciplinary practice. It comprises five schools offering programs in Computer Science, Computing Instruction, Cybersecurity and Privacy, Interactive Computing, and Computational Science and Engineering.

Job SummaryThe College of Computing at the Georgia Institute of Technology invites nominations and applications for the position of Chair of the School of Computing Instruction (SCI) for the Atlanta campus. The Chair will build upon the School''s success. SCI focuses on the foundations of computing and serves critical needs in computing education, with faculty who emphasize pedagogy, scalability of instruction, and meaningful dialogue in computing education.
SCI aims to be a platform for creativity, innovation, and collaboration in computing education research, practice, and outreach.
Responsibilities include providing leadership for all teaching components at the undergraduate level and establishing collaborative relationships across Georgia Tech and with external partners. The Chair will foster community engagement and industry relationships and must demonstrate a commitment to Georgia Tech Core Values.
ResponsibilitiesReporting to the Dean of the College of Computing, the Chair has overall responsibility for the School''s academic program, budgetary, administrative, fiscal, and personnel decisions in alignment with the College and Institute goals. The Chair should have a forward-thinking strategic vision and the ability to implement it, leading faculty and staff and guiding undergraduate teaching. Collaboration with other Computing School Chairs and internal/external stakeholders is expected, including partnerships with executive leaders at Georgia Tech.
Fostering industry relationships and community engagement is a primary goal. A commitment to Georgia Tech Core Values is required.
- Have a Doctorate in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- Be a Senior Academic or Teaching Faculty (equivalent or above) in a premier department at a research university
- Demonstrated leadership and team-building skills
- Experience with strategic planning and vision development
- Facility with fiscal management and administrative oversight
- Participative management and open decision-making
- Commitment to the personal and educational enrichment of faculty, staff, and students
- Proven record of external visibility and experience with development
