Application Developers are responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining software applications that support the institution’s goals and meet user needs. This role involves collaborating with stakeholders to gather and analyze requirements, troubleshooting and resolving technical issues, and implementing effective solutions to enhance application functionality, performance, and user experience. The developer ensures that applications are scalable, secure, and aligned with best practices in software development.
Responsibilities- Design, develop, and implement software applications that meet user requirements and align with institutional objectives.
- Perform testing and debugging of applications to identify and resolve issues, ensuring optimal functionality and performance.
- Maintain and update existing software applications, implementing enhancements and modifications based on user feedback and technological advancements.
- Document application development processes, including design specifications, user manuals, and technical documentation for future reference.
- Participate in project management activities, including planning, scheduling, and resource allocation to ensure timely delivery of application development projects.
- Stay current with industry trends and best practices in application development, incorporating new technologies and methodologies as appropriate.
- Provide technical support and training to end‑users, assisting them in effectively utilizing software applications to enhance their productivity.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to integrate applications with other systems and ensure seamless data exchange across platforms.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and analyze requirements, ensuring that applications address the needs of various departments and users.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline or equivalent experience.
- 6+ years of relevant experience.
- Master’s degree in a related discipline or equivalent experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field (preferred).
- Experience in a university or higher education environment (preferred).
- Familiarity with application security methodologies and service‑oriented architecture.
- Managing websites using content management systems (e.g., Word Press).
- Understanding of usability best practices and accessibility standards.
- Extensive experience with PHP (Symfony framework), Python, and JavaScript.
- Experience with databases such as MySQL, Oracle, or other relational databases.
- Working knowledge of UNIX/Linux environments, including terminal usage, bash scripting, SSH, and Apache configuration.

Position:
Non‑supervisory, no financial responsibilities, does not require driving, is not a position of trust, no purchasing card required, no travel, no security clearance needed. Salary Grade T05, salary range $78,023 – $110,316 depending on experience.
