Job DescriptionThe Georgia Dept. of Transportation (GDOT) is seeking a technical GIS developer to configure and develop custom Esri ArcGIS Enterprise 11x and 12x applications, including ArcGIS Maps SDK, Experience Builder, ArcGIS Portal/Online/Hub, and Field Maps. Applications are deployed within SharePoint web sites and integrated with .NET based applications, GDOT databases (Oracle/Oracle Exadata, SQL Server), data warehouse (Oracle Exadata), and enterprise reporting tools (OBIEE, Data Visualizer, or Power BI).
The candidate will have experience in application programming, development, implementation, and support.
Under broad supervision, the developer designs, codes, tests, modifies, and debugs software and applications, translating business requirements into secure, commented, and maintainable code. Working within the Enterprise GIS Team of IT Applications, the developer collaborates with database, network, and server teams, as well as management, architects, developers, and business units.
Team OverviewThe Enterprise GIS team comprises a support analyst, 2 ArcGIS developers, 2 system administrators, a data manager, and a team leader. The team supports over 180 ArcGIS Desktop users and approximately 60,000 annual ArcGIS Server web visits, covering GIS portal, feature mapping, project planning, emergency operations, permitting, safety, and traffic records.
Responsibilities- Design and develop customized web applications, web services, mobile, and enterprise solutions
- Design and develop geoprocessing and GIS web services
- Design and develop GIS web editing/mapping applications
- Conduct performance, unit, system, integration, and quality assurance testing of applications
- Maintain existing applications/services
- Upgrade and migrate existing applications/services to current version/systems architecture
- Implement controls to protect system/data security
- Document GIS solutions and provide required documentation/artifacts
- Work closely with other developers and architects
- Collaborate on IT project teams, estimate work effort and complete tasks on time per agreed project schedule(s)
- Address critical or complex GIS support issues/problems
- Engage vendor/IT staff in complex troubleshooting or system correction
- Automate data processing via ETL scripts
- Ensure alignment with standards/guidelines, provide technical guidance/strategy, and mentor GIS staff
