Job Description
The Financial Data Scientist provides advanced financial and analytical support through mathematical and statistical modeling, forecasting, and data-driven insights.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance financial models, including forecasting, scenario analysis, and sensitivity analysis.
- Apply time series modeling techniques to support revenue, expense, pricing, and volume forecasting.
- Analyze large and complex datasets using SQL and Python to identify trends, risks, and performance drivers.
- Design, automate, and maintain repeatable analytics and reporting solutions.
- Partner with finance leadership and business stakeholders to translate analytical results into actionable insights.
- Support budgeting, planning, and performance management processes with rigorous quantitative analysis.
- Validate data accuracy and resolve data quality issues across multiple financial and operational systems.
- Prepare clear, concise management presentations and written summaries explaining assumptions, methodology, and results.
- Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as statistics, computer science, engineering, applied mathematics, or equivalent work experience.
- Six to eight years of relevant experience.
- Advanced degree in a quantitative discipline (Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, etc.).
- Experience with time series analysis and forecasting techniques.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Familiarity with version control and reproducible coding and analytics workflows.
- Experience in credit card payment processing.
- Strong analytic skills with the ability to extract, collect, organize, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets.
- Experience in advanced analytics/statistics, predictive modeling, machine learning, data visualization.
- Understanding of machine learning techniques and algorithms.
- Experience in Python, R, SAS, SQL for data extraction, data mining, and predictive analytics.
- Demonstrated project management skills.
- Effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
This role requires working from a U.S. Bank location three (3) or more days per week.
